About us
Enterprise Britain is a movement of entrepreneurs, business leaders, and investors who are compelled to act, now, to build a better future for the UK.
We are focused on driving action, not just generating ideas. We are not a think tank; we are a movement of people who have been at the frontlines of building some of Britain's most successful and innovative businesses.
Here’s what we do:
- We lead a national conversation. We’re here to talk about ambition and how to inspire it. To shine a spotlight on success and celebrate it. To gain support for bold reforms and mobilise it.
- We shape bold policies. Our movement holds invaluable experience and insight about how to scale businesses and grow our economy. We draw on this to develop new ideas, refine them, and ensure they are heard at the highest levels.
- We bring people together. Across the UK, there is a huge appetite for practical, real-world ideas and a restoration of national self-belief. We are here to channel that energy, to foster collaboration, conversation, and — most importantly — action.
About you
We’re not looking for a specific degree or a particular list of internships. We’re looking for someone with the right mindset and the drive to make a difference. That means you are:
- Passionate about our mission. You genuinely believe that business can be a force for good, and you care about advancing shared prosperity.
- Switched on about media. You are an avid reader and consumer of media (of all kinds), and you understand what makes something newsworthy.
- Interested in politics and policy. You follow what’s happening in Westminster, understand how decisions get made, and you want to be part of it.
- Tech-savvy. You regularly use AI tools to boost your efficiency and bolster your skills, and you have good judgment about when and how to deploy them.
- Creative. You don’t just follow what others are doing; you look for opportunities to do things differently and push the boundaries of what seems possible.
- Self-starter. You take initiative, pick things up quickly, and don’t wait to be told what to do. You know the right questions to ask to do your job well.
- Organised and detail-oriented. You’re the person who makes sure nothing falls through the cracks.
About the day-to-day
You will gain significant experience across all areas of communications and public affairs. Because we are a small team, you will get stuck in from day one and learn directly from senior team members and advisors.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and spotting opportunities: Keeping track of what’s driving the news agenda and what’s happening in Westminster and Whitehall. Flagging opportunities for Enterprise Britain to engage and advance our objectives.
- Research: Digging into the details of policy issues we are working on. Compiling insights from existing research, identifying experts we can engage, and contributing to original reports and white papers. Preparing briefs for our senior team members to ensure they are ready for interviews, meetings, and events.
- Project management: Ensuring that all our workstreams stay on track. Managing our Asana boards, overseeing our communications calendar, and ensuring that our freelancers and agency partners know what needs to be done when.
- Content creation: Drafting content for our website and social media accounts and supporting the team with press releases and op-eds. Playing an important role in visual storytelling, both by creating graphics and video content using toolsets like Canva and by identifying and briefing designers and videographers.
You will also provide light administrative support to our Executive Director, helping to keep the organisation running smoothly. This is expected to be less than 10% of your time, and you are encouraged to leverage technology to reduce the administrative burden (e.g., through AI-powered note-taking and automation of repetitive tasks).
The fine print
- Location: Hybrid role with 3 days per week in a Central London office.
- Salary: Details to be shared with applicants at their first interview.
- Right to work: Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer visa sponsorship at this time.
- Start date: We are moving quickly and seeking applicants who can do the same. Unfortunately, we cannot wait out lengthy notice periods.
