Enterprise Britain in The Times

The Times featured insights from our polling with YouGov, which found that the majority of 18-to-24 year olds cannot name a single entrepreneur.

Enterprise Britain Advisory Board member Martha Lane Fox discussed the findings with Niamh Curran, arguing that they suggest the term “entrepreneur" has taken on an unhelpful sense of grandeur:

“People think, ‘I don't know anyone like that because an entrepreneur is someone who builds a big global company’... [Entrepreneurship] can come in many forms and can be economically rewarding for you, your community and wider society.”

The article also highlighted several policy recommendations from our first report, “Time to Act”, on how we reawaken Britain’s entrepreneurial spirit — including by launching a national campaign to showcase and elevate founders, and establishing a dedicated Minister for Entrepreneurship to send a clear signal that the UK is open for business.
