Enterprise Britain’s Co-Chair Brent Hoberman said:
"Andy Burnham arrives in Downing Street with no leadership contest behind him, no real scrutiny of his platform, and no time to waste.
"Entrepreneurs and investors need clear signals - quickly - about the direction his economic policy will take.
"They want to see a tax system that rewards risk-taking and incentivises hiring. And they want a commitment to backing Britain’s scale-ups to drive economic growth and deliver shared prosperity. They want a country that encourages ambition, unlocks capital and attracts, trains and retains the best talent.
"Burnham must not wait until the Autumn Budget to set out his plans. We cannot afford months of uncertainty and speculation.
"We've seen what Burnham delivered in Greater Manchester when entrepreneurs, investors, and universities pulled in the same direction. Our community stands ready to help him deliver on a national scale."
